West Ham vs Liverpool, Premier League

Liverpool ran out comfortable winners at the London Stadium on Sunday and know victory at home to Middlesbrough in their final game next Sunday will guarantee a top-four finish.

Liverpool moved back one point above Manchester City into third place in the Premier League.

But it will promise to be another nail-biter for Reds fans, as fourth place and qualification for the Champions League remains pivotal to the summer transfer targets and the medium term ambitions of the club.

"We have found a good system and we've been excellent in the last four games, so I'm pleased, because as a defender it's good to keep clean sheets". 'The first thing the players said in the dressing room was "one more time, one more game". "But if we can be as focused and fluent as today then it will be hard (for Middlesbrough)".

Speaking after the match, the Hammers Croatian boss said: "I'm very disappointed with the way that we played".

"It was an important game for us".

"If you give time and space to players like Coutinho, Lallana and Sturridge then sooner or later they'll kill you".

The Reds have already struggled against West Ham this season, recovering from a half-time deficit to earn a 2-2 draw at Anfield in December.

The Brazilian master provided a moment of magic to set up Daniel Sturridge for the first-half opener, and then scored two sensational solo goals after the break.

The goal Liverpool craved arrived when the silky Coutinho's defence-splitting pass sent Sturridge clear and he left keeper Adrian grounded with a neat stepover before calmly sliding the ball into the net.

Georginio Wijnaldum, who had hit the crossbar in the build-up to Liverpool's second goal, clearly handled in his own area - inflicting injury on Winston Reid in the process - but referee Neil Swarbrick played on, with Coutinho netting 21 seconds later.

While he wasn't the difference between the two sides, his magic in-between the lines was too much for a West Ham team, who played as though their holidays plans had been brought forward.

Having initially led the counterattack himself, Coutinho received the ball back from Wijnaldum before skipping past James Collins and finishing powerfully from close range.

Liverpool went straight back to business when the second half kicked off. Divock Origi was denied by a fine Adrian save in the 47th minute before Daniel Sturridge almost made it 2-0.
