LeBron James's L.A. Home Vandalized With N-Word Graffiti

LeBron James #23 of the Cleveland Cavaliers looks on prior to Game Five of the 2017 NBA Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics at TD Garden on May 25, 2017 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James' Los Angeles home was vandalised with a racial slur, police said one day before he prepares to take the court in game one of the National Basketball Association finals. She says the property manager told officers they believe the incident was captured on surveillance video.

Los Angeles Police Department detectives are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime and are examining security-camera footage from nearby homes in an attempt to identify the perpetrator.

A source familiar with the case told NBC News the "n-word" was spray-painted on the driveway gate. By the time officers responded, someone had already painted over it trying to fix it.

James' agent, Rich Paul, declined to comment.

James and the defending champion Cavaliers open the NBA Finals on Thursday night in Oakland, Calif., against the Golden State Warriors.
