Erendira Wallenda plans helicopter stunt over Niagara Falls

Erendira Wallenda is scheduled to discuss her plans with reporters Wednesday morning on the American side of the Falls. There are eight generations of performers on her mother's side who have been part of the third-oldest circus in Australia, she said, and seven generations on her father's side, which tours in Mexico City.

After dangling for approximately 15 seconds, Erendira said she "felt good" and chose to do it again for another 10 seconds. But the safety harness wasn't needed, as Wallenda didn't fall once. Now, his wife, Erendira, has her own record at the waterfalls.

She hung some 300 feet above the falls from the helicopter for about 20 minutes by clinging on to a customized mouthpiece attached to a hoop and cable. "It was a lot more windy than I expected it to be".

She said as an artist and as a daredevil, there's something "almost magical" about the falls.

"It felt unbelievable", she said after landing back on solid ground. "That's what I live for".

In 2012, the Niagara Parks Commission approved the achievement of Nik Wallenda.

Big ideas for Niagara Falls are as common as water falling over them, and many concepts over the years have evaporated like the mist above the Falls. "That's the dream, that's the goal". Legislators and the Wallendas said the payoff would come later, with the spread of photos and video from the stunt. "That's wonderful. That's awesome". "It blows my mind and I have to see this".

Barth said the flight was steady, though turbulence pushed him higher. As today marks the five year anniversary of the time he performed a tightrope walk across Niagara Falls, his wife chose a rather interesting way to honor the stunt.

Niagara County and the city of Niagara Falls each set aside $35,000 to help fund the stunt, and the Seneca Gaming Corp., the event's lead sponsor, gave $50,000, reported the Buffalo News.
