Man, woman found shot to death in apparent murder-suicide on Chicago Skyway

The vehicle then crashed into a median separating the eastbound lanes from the westbound lanes, police said.

Citing preliminary investigation, authorities said the man and woman were in a vehicle traveling eastbound on the roadway when the woman exited the auto and fled.

Pena, 30, got out of the auto while it was still moving, and fired several shots at Fischer, striking her in the body. The auto crashed near the site of the shooting.

The eastbound lanes of the Skyway were shut down for almost six hours as police investigated.

Chicago Fire Department crews were called to 8800 south on Eastbound Iterstate 90 about 4:15 a.m. for people shot and found two people dead at the scene, said fire department spokesman Walter Schroeder.

The man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says the woman climbed out of the vehicle driven by the man and was walking away when he got out and shot her several times. Their identities have not been released. An Uber decal was visible on the rear window. The ramps to the eastbound Skyway at South State Street, East 73rd Street and South Drexel Avenue were also closed.
