Accident reported involving military plane at Ohio air show

A law enforcement official confirmed a military jet is on its top at the Dayton (Ohio) Air Show, according to the Dayton Daily News.

No injuries have been reported but emergency crews are working to extricate two people from the plane.

A Thunderbird F-16 was involved in an incident Friday while practicing for an OH air show, according to multiple reports. Reed said there was no immediate report of any injuries or fuel leaks.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds posted information on their Facebook page.

Firefighters from the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the airport's fire and rescue team responded to the crash.

"It was raining, and I was taking pictures of some airplanes", Ricardo von Puttkammer, a correspondent for Aviation Photojournal who witnessed the incident, told WHIO TV-7.

A decision on whether to go forward with plans for the show in Dayton on Saturday has not been made.

In June 2016, an Air Force Thunderbird pilot experienced a malfunction in his throttle control during a fly over for the Air Force Academy graduation.

A photographer for WHIOTV said the two-seat Thunderbird landed and was taxing toward the staging area when it appeared a gust of wind flipped the jet.
