Brogdon a unanimous NBA All-Rookie Team pick

Malcolm Brogdon and Dario Saric unanimous selections to NBA All Rookie first team

The All-Rookie team was chosen by sportswriters and broadcasters.

Brogdon helped lead the Bucks back to playoffs, where they lost in the first round to the Toronto Raptors.

The Sixers' only two NBA Rookies of the Year are Allen Iverson (1996-97) and Michael Carter-Williams (2013-14). Or Rookie of Third of a Year.

Brogdon's production (10.2 PPG and 4.2 APG) to a team fighting for the playoffs led him past Embiid and Saric. He played 53.7 percent of the Sixers' minutes in 2016-17.

Embiid only played in 31 games this year, which cost him Rookie of the Year honors despite putting up 20.2 points per game. His name was called after the likes of Cheick Diallo, Deyonta Davis, Skal Labissiere and Malachi Richardson - all one-and-done freshmen who combined to start 12 National Basketball Association games this past season. He shot 45.7% from the field and 40.4% on threes, which was No. 1 among rookies who attempted at least 190 threes.

Russell Westbrook has won the NBA's MVP award after setting a record with 42 triple-doubles last season.

After Brogdon was named as this season's top rookie, he took the stage and paid tribute to those who have odds stacked against them in the National Basketball Association. "Guys that are second round picks". "I want to say this is a testament to guys that are underestimated, guys that are second-round picks, guys that are undrafted every year that are looked over regardless of the work they put in, regardless of what they do".

"You can always achieve your dreams if you have faith, if you have sacrifice".

Not only was Brogdon an outstanding backup, but he was also a capable starter, too. He finally came over from playing in Turkey for the 2016-17 year and played in 81 games, making 36 starts, and averaging 12.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. He had an impact on the Bucks' success.

NBA Rookie of the Year (and fellow UVA alum, I might add, GO 'HOOS!) Malcolm Brogdon - the first non-first-round pick to win the honor since 1966 - made sure his mom was the first person he shared his historic moment with. But Brogdon deserved it. It's fine. No, I don't believe Malcolm Brogdon deserved to win over Joel Embiid by any stretch of the imagination - Dario's case is a little more arguable than we'd probably want to acknowledge - and I agree with everyone else cackling over how ridiculous Brogdon beating Embiid is gonna seem five years, five months, five JoJo tweets from now.
