Heathrow is one of the world's busiest airports and the affected terminal mainly services long-haul flights, although it also offers some European destinations.

A complete evacuation at Manchester Airport's Terminal 3 had taken place this morning after reports of a suspicious bag.

One Twitter user says a police cordon which has been set up to the terminal has been widened by cops.

Passengers wait outside Terminal 1 after the baggage claim area was evacuated Wednesday afternoon.

The airport has said Terminals 1 and 2 are unaffected.

Hundreds of passengers were ushered out of Terminal 3 as a bomb disposal team was called in to investigate.

The airport has made an announcement advising passengers that terminal three will remain closed at present while safety precautions continue.

It comes after holidaymakers faced chaos yesterday when the airport's Terminal 1 was evacuated due to a major leak.

Manchester's airport is the third biggest in the United Kingdom and more than 22 million passengers go through it each year.
