The Coweta County Coroner's Office in Georgia has reportedly confirmed the news of the stuntman's death to Entertainment Weekly.

Bernecker reportedly suffered head injuries after falling over 20 feet onto a concrete floor, Variety reported, adding that the stuntman had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Production on season of "The Walking Dead" has been temporarily halted, according to a statement by AMC, Deadline Hollywood reported.

TMZ reports that Bernecker's death has been ruled an accident. After the accident, Bernecker was transported to Atlanta Medical Center. His family made their decision on Thursday and by his side when he died was his girlfriend, Jennifer Cocker, who also works on "The Walking Dead" as a stunt woman.

Bernecker died on Wednesday at an Atlanta hospital from the injuries he sustained in the fall.

Bernecker had been doing stunt work in Hollywood for nearly 10 years, including working on the movies "Black Panther", "The Fate of the Furious", "Get Out" and "Logan". It's unclear if this production accident changes those plans. In his eight-year career, Bernecker has performed more than 90 risky and awe-inspiring stunts.

"The Walking Dead", the often-gory AMC show based on a comic series that chronicles the lives of people fighting to survive a zombie apocalypse, is filming its eighth season. He is also listed as having worked on upcoming films like Marvel's "Black Panther" and Dwayne Johnson's "Rampage". There is no word as to when production will resume.

Unfortunately, thoughts and prayers may not be enough, as Deadline is reporting that Bernecker is brain dead and on life-support. AMC earlier released a statement regarding the "tragic" accident, saying Bernecker and his family are "in our thoughts and prayers".
