RB Leipzig owner Mateschitz reveals €75m bid for Liverpool target Keita

Liverpool appeared to finally be edging closer to signing Naby Keita from RB Leipzig but their latest attempt has left them frustrated.

While the Reds have landed Mohamed Salah from Roma for a club-record £36.9 million and Dominic Solanke on a free from Chelsea, they've also endured some excruciating transfer sagas.

Now, Sky Sports News reporter Sheth has revealed that Liverpool are "expected" to make a fresh bid to try and sign the Guinea worldwide this week.

Red Bull magnate and Lepzig owner Dietrich Mateschitz confirmed that Liverpool's follow-up bid on the Guinea global was a futile attempt.

"Lately we received a €75 million offer for Naby Keïta in house".

He gave a typically humourous response when asked during a press conference in Hong Kong that followed a 2-0 Premier League Asia Trophy victory over Crystal Palace if Liverpool were prepared to increase their bid for a second time.

But while Arsenal are reported by the Express to be ready to lodge a £45m offer if Alexis Sanchez leaves the club, Van Dijk is still said to be decided that Liverpool are the club he wants to sign for.

It's easy to see why so many top clubs around Europe want the box-to-box midfielder, as he registered eight goals and eight assists in 31 league outings last season to establish himself as a key part of Leipzig's successful campaign.

"We don't sell any of our players just to get money", he told Bild.

Therefore Liverpool are expected to make one final "take it or leave it" offer to Leipzig. When a player makes things look easy, that tells you they're really good at what they do.

Mateschitz says selling Keita would send the wrong message to RB's other stars.
