James Bond set to return - but who will play him?

Bond is back: Daniel Craig comes back as 007

Bond is back: Daniel Craig comes back as 007

The new movie will be the 25th in the Bond franchise.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer announced on Monday the next instalment will arrive in cinemas in 2019, scripted by long-standing Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.

Reports reaching us as at the time of writing this article is that actor Daniel Craig is the most likely candidate for the James Bond role in the upcoming James Bond 25 film in 2019.

Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and Tom Hiddleston have all been linked to the role, although the New York Times have reported that Craig's return is a "done deal".

Of late, Daniel Craig had made impressions when he lamented his participation in the epic franchise, thereby making people question Daniel Craig's dedication to the cause.

However, his return has been marred somewhat by the fact that, after the last film, Spectre, he said he would "rather slash his wrists" than do another, that it would "only be for the money" and that "all I want to do is move on". After being involved in the last four series of the franchise, some James Bond fans have already started to imagine who the next cast might be. Those movies are not counted on the 007 website.

Appearing in another two installments will bring Craig's tally of Bond appearances to six following his successful turns in Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre, spanning 11 years.

MGM and Eon are also looking for a studio to handle the marketing and the distribution of the film, with Warner Bros, Fox, Sony and Universal fighting to get the job.

Film was not produced by Eon Productions.
