Former Barcelona president Joan Gaspart has given a damning interview regarding departing star Neymar, who has left Camp Nou for Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record shattering deal.

"The fact I am the most expensive player is not a burden". What I think about is my happiness, together with my family.

"He did not come here for the money".

"I have a lot respect for Barca, it's not a revenge", Neymar said when asked whether he chose to leave Barcelona for PSG as a revenge, probably in reference to the famous 2017 Champions League matches between the clubs, first of which resulted in PSG 4:0 win, but the second was won by Barcelona. I want something bigger, a bigger challenge, and my heart made this decision and this is why I'm here.

'FIFPro's legal complaint to the competition unit of the European Commission, lodged in late 2015, is created to help rebalance football and bring an end to the transfer market madness, for the good of the game, all players, clubs and fans'.

He's locked in there until 2022, so here's hoping that passion doesn't die.

"I have seen Parc des Princes, and I am itching to pull on my new shirt and play".

PSG have already been fined and saw their Champions League squad limited by UEFA for breaches of FFP in 2014.

But the French club's Qatari owners are nothing if not ambitious and were determined to make Neymar their marquee name as part of their drive to finally capture the competition.

"Barcelona and Catalonia will always be in my heart but I need new challenges".

"The transfer of Neymar to PSG will have an effect on the club's finances over several years but the impact of such an operation cannot be judged in advance, notably as PSG could well sell several players for a significant amount", UEFA said in a statement to AFP.

Neymar has spoken about why he joined PSG from Barcelona, and has claimed that money has never been a motivating factor for him.

"The world-record transfer of Neymar is the latest example of how football is ever more the domain of a select group of rich, mostly European-based clubs".

He said: "What I can say to these people is that they know nothing about personal life".

MSN - as the hallowed trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar came to be known - have been football's deadliest forward line, and yet it was Messi's presence that pushed Neymar to leave. "My teammates treated me well", Neymar said when asked if FC Barcelona players were angered by his move.

Neymar's reputation as one of the game's best players has been enhanced by his performances in Brazilian colours.

59 - Add in this impressive number of assists and the 25-year-old was involved in 164 goals in his 186 appearances for the club. Preparim Hetemaj (410) is the only other player to have drawn the referee's whistle over 400 times in that span.
