Arrest made after hunt for jogger who 'pushed' woman into path of bus on Putney Bridge

Police arrested a 41-year-old man Thursday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. The private-equity specialist was out of the country when the assault occurred, his lawyer said.

But, 48 hours after news of the arrest was announced, the Met police said they had released Bellquist and eliminated him from the investigation.

The bus stopped and passengers tended to the woman, who sustained minor injuries. The law firm representing Bellquist later confirmed on Friday that he was the man arrested, adding that he wasn't the person who'd attacked the woman on Putney Bridge.

His lawyers released a statement, after their client was cleared, saying the man could prove he was in the U.S. when the incident occurred on May 5.

Bellquist, who previously worked for Lehman Brothers and is now employed by Hutton Collins Partners, was arrested this week in Chelsea on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

The footage shows a large male jogger knocking over the woman into the path of a one of London's famed-double-decker buses.

Officers continue to appeal for any witnesses to the incident.

The jogger is described as a white man, aged in his early- to mid-30s, with brown eyes and short brown hair.

He was wearing a light grey t-shirt and dark blue shorts.

After shoving her onto the road, the jogger is seen running off. Police said he returned 15 minutes later on the other side of the bridge but would not acknowledge the victim.
