Sharad Yadav vows to build national level Grand Alliance

Opposition calls for BJP's ouster at Lalu's rally in Patn

Addressing the 'Desh Bachao-Bhajpa Bhagao' rally here, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief said, "The Centre is using agencies to terrorise people, who dare to speak against it".

Accusing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of betraying the public mandate by breaking the Grand Alliance in the state, Lalu Prasad said the Janata Dal-United leader (Nitish) had no principles, no ideology, but only love for power.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has, however, refused to be part of the rally while Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is overseas. Also present at the rally were Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Prasad's elder son Tej Pratap Yadav and wife Rabri Devi along with their daughter Misa Bharti.

JD (U) will write to RS Chairman seeking disqualification of Sharad Yadav.

Without naming Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is also the JD-U president, Sharad said: "I would like to remind those who broke the "Grand Alliance" in Bihar that now we will form the "Grand Alliance" at the national level".

Rai alleged that the main motive of the rally was to put a veil on the corruption charges against Lalu and his family.

Reacting to Sharad Yadav's presence at the rally, JD (U) secretary general K.C. Tyagi told this newspaper: "He ended his long association with the party by attending the rally organised by the RJD".

On Sunday, Lalu Prasad's rally in Patna's Gandhi Maidan saw leaders of 18 parties vowing to join forces against BJP. "We feel that he has voluntarily left the JD (U) by going against the party line".

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also shared the stage in the rally attacking the Prime Minister for his failure in fulfilling his promises to the people.

"In the next election, Bihar people will leave Nitishji and the BJP, as Laluji and Sharadji kind of leaders can be trusted, not everyone can take the masses for a ride", Mamata Banerjee said.
