Remains Of Some Missing Sailors Found In 'Sealed Compartments' On USS John S. McCain

The remains have been recovered of all 10 US Navy sailors missing from last Monday's collision between the USS John S McCain and the tanker Alnic MC in the Singapore Strait.

■Interior Communications Electrician 3rd Class Logan Stephen Palmer, 23, from IL. The collision with the tanker tore a large hole in the destroyer's portside hull, flooding nearby compartments. Several other sailors were disciplined. The crash was the second such deadly incident this summer for the U.S. Seventh Fleet, based in Japan, and the fourth accident since January.

The US Seventh Fleet, of which the damaged warship is a part of, also released a list of names of the sailors that died in the accident.

They returned with the decision on Wednesday to remove Vice Admiral Joseph Aucoin, the commander of the 7th Fleet, citing "loss of confidence" in his ability to lead the force. Admiral John Richardson, the chief of naval operations, tweeted that there's "no indication right now" of "cyber intrusion or sabotage", but the Navy review "will consider all possibilities". In January the 7th Fleet's Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Antietam ran aground near Yokosuka, Japan, where the fleet is based.

The high number of incidents prompted the USA navy officials to put on halt all operations across the world and conduct a thorough review of seamanship and training in the Pacific.

The Seventh Fleet, headquartered in Japan, operates as many as 70 ships, including the USA navy's only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, and has about 140 aircraft and 20,000 sailors.

"In the wake of two tragic collisions, our hearts may be broken but our will remains strong", Swift wrote on his Facebook page.

"Connie and I are thinking of Jacob's family during this terrible time, and we join Ohioans in praying for Jacob's well-being and safety". Drake's sister has said the family was notified Monday he was missing.
