Manchester City's pursuit of Alexis Sanchez has ramped up with reports they have offered Raheem Sterling plus cash to sign the Chilean striker from Arsenal.

According to the Mirror, there has been a sensational development in the transfer saga surrounding Alexis Sanchez.

The Independent claim Arsenal want Sergio Aguero should Sanchez leave, with the former Atletico Madrid striker regarded by many as one of the finest in the Premier League after scoring 170 goals in 255 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side.

Manchester United have become shock leaders in the signature of Sanchez, who has less than a year left on his current Arsenal deal.

Arsenal forward, Alexis Sanchez, has requesed to leave the Chile national team camp, to complete his move to Manchester City.

According to TV13, Chile national team boss Pizzi is furious with Alexis as he did not want his star to leave in the middle of the global break to discuss his move to another club.

The City hierarchy do not want to lose a club icon like Aguero, though, while Sterling is seen as an asset for the future.

Guardiola has been chasing Sanchez all summer despite Arsenal's insistence that the player is not for sale.

Man City defender Denayer, meanwhile, has spent the last three seasons away from the Etihad Stadium on loan and, in July, complained to the media about the club reportedly making it hard for him to join a new club permanently.
