Apple, LG to discuss OLED deal

You can probably blame Samsung for the astronomical price of the iPhone 8

We can't be certain as to what Apple has in store for us at its September 12 event when it launches the new iPhone. Recently, the company has been encroaching on Apple's marketshare and was actually able to sell more during the months of June and July. Apple would much rather prefer that iPhone 8 owners use the "Hey Siri" callphrase to activate the digital assistant.

To put that number in perspective, Apple now pays between $45 and $55 per LCD display unit it uses in the assembly of the iPhone 7 Plus.

The iPhone 8 is going to feature either the Qi or Airfuel charging techniques.

The consumer price of U.S. tech giant Apple Inc.'s new iPhone to be unveiled this month will depend on how much is paid to South Korean parts manufacturers, industry watchers said Friday.

The new iPhone will go on sale in the United Kingdom on 22 September, according to one of the technology industry's most high-profile leakers.

Fans and investors are eagerly looking forward to the 10th anniversary iPhone 8 to see whether it will deliver enough new features to spark a new generation to turn to Apple. As Apple is about to launch iPhone 8 in September, it is expected that it will again reclaim the second position on global sales rankings in September.

The bigger change will be in the form of display on the iPhone 8. Still, September 15 and September 22 are the most likely dates for pre-orders and launch, respectively. While LG makes an OLED of comparable quality to Samsung's, it's simply not equipped to make them at the scale Apple needs - at least not yet.

What can we expect from iPhone 8? Apple's Touch ID fingerprint scanner was always previously part of the home button. Apple is known as a company who takes baby steps to accomplish one very ambitious goal. Analysts suggest that Apple might go for a 3D facial recognition system instead.

Up to 65 percent of iPhone sales in the second half of 2017 are expected to be via mobile contracts, compared to around 50 per cent in previous iPhone "S" model years.
