PV Sindhu kept a surprisingly detached countenance soon after she beat Japanese rival Nozomi Okuhara 22-20, 11-21, 21-18 in what was a rematch of last month's World Championship final.

Sameer, meanwhile, lost to South Korean top seed Son Wan Ho 22-20, 10-21, 13-21 in an hour and nine minutes.

The win, though, didn't come easy as Okuhara fought Sindhu right to the end, never giving away even an inch. Okuhara reached game-point first, at 20-18, but Sindhu produced her best badminton at this stage to win four points in an unbroken reel. With the Indian ahead 19-16, Mitani levelled the scores at 19-19, but Sindhu managed to score two big points to take the first game.

Wishing Sindhu for more success, he added, "I wish P.V. Sindhu would conquer her dreams of becoming Number 1".

The Indian shuttler hampered Okuhara's bid to win her third straight title after winning the Australian Open and the World Championships.

She was handed defeat by the Okuhara in the 110-minute thriller in the finals of BWF Badminton Championship held in Glasgow, Scotland. The Indians boys, who are ranked 39 in the world, gave a tough fight to the world No.4 team.

As it turned out, the match lived up to its billing as both the shuttlers once again went toe to toe in a bid for supremacy. It was nearly a repeat of the World championship final, though the result reversed, in our favour.

As Okuhara led at 14-7, Sindhu started attacking her backhand, her weaker wing. Earlier, she used to be very impatient with matches that lasted for long, but post-Olympics, she has been able to change her attitude and sustain during longer matches.
