Another suspect, an 18-year-old man, was detained at Dover Ferry port on Saturday while attempting to get to France.

British authorities have also launched an enormous armed search in the southwestern London suburb of Sunbury, added AP. Neither has been charged.

The arrest came 24 hours after a homemade bomb partially exploded at Parson Green tube station in west London, injuring 29 people.

Assistant Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mark Rowley said police had gained a "greater understanding" of how the bomb was prepared but said there was "still much more to do".

Of the other suspect, he added: "I think it is widely known that this person who lives at (the Stanwell) property was a former foster child at the property which was raided".

A critical threat level means another attack is "expected imminently", while a severe threat indicates an assault is highly likely.

Britain's official terrorist alert was lowered to the second highest level, suggesting police have disrupted the network behind the London bombing.

The Islamic State asserted responsibility for the explosion. The Tube train had just pulled into the station and the doors had just opened when the explosion went off in the last carriage.

Neil Basu, the Met Police's Senior National Co-ordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, in a statement, said cops were working round the clock in an effort to hunt and trace the ones responsible for the bombing at the underground train. Officials say the injuries would have been far worse if it had fully detonated.

"The personal information of a suspect can not be disclosed as long as charges are not filed against him", said a Scotland Yard spokesman.

"But as this unfolds, and as the police do their investigations, we will make sure that we find out exactly how he was radicalized, if we can". The other attacks in London - near Parliament, on London Bridge and near a mosque in Finsbury Park in north London - used vehicles and knives to kill and wound. They also said there were no safety risks to local residents.

Fearing anor attack " imminent", uk's centre for analysis of terrorism had identified Friday, level of terrorist alert to " critical", level maxium, for second time in a few months.

"The arrest was carried out by officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command, supported by colleagues from Gwent Police and the Welsh Extremism and Counter Terrorism Unit (WECTU)", the spokesman said.

In addition, a suicide bomber struck a packed concert hall in Manchester in northern England, killing 22 people.
