But it's certainly not ideal. But the mechanism is flawed according to a security researcher - whether Apple has already fixed the vulnerability by today's release remains unclear for the time being.

It's easy to get carried away as you consider the multiple options available when it comes to installing an operating system onto your beloved meme machine.

Director of Research at security firm Synack and ex-NSA analyst Patrick Wardle on Monday said macOS High Sierra contains a major security flaw that can potentially allow hackers to steal user credentials from accounts stored in Keychain.

The video, embedded below, shows an application downloaded on the user's workstation exploiting an unknown flaw to dump the content of the user's Keychain file in cleartext.

We've reached out to Apple for comment and will update this article appropriately. However, we'll admit it, it's kind of a boring update when compared to previous updates to the Mac operating system.

High Sierra will officially be available on 25 September.

There's another side to the "no learning curve" angle.

Notes adds simple tables, allowing a user to type in cells, make edits and move rows and columns.

However, for just $99 a year, attackers could join the Apple Development Program, which would allow them to sign apps with embedded functionality to steal passwords. So, the developers of the Unity and Unreal 3D engines want to support Apple's VR system.

Overall, it's hard to find fault in the general user experience. I won't be looking more deeply at individual macOS High Sierra features on the site, as I'm doing with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, iOS 11, and Google's Android 8.0 Oreo.

When asked how users can protect themselves from this attack, Wardle writes: "As mentioned before, this attack is local, meaning malicious adversaries have to first compromise your mac in some way". Hence, it pays to always back them up in a secure location to avoid the worst nightmare that could happen-losing files and data due to an unsuccessful installation of a system upgrade.

On Twitter, a few folks are complaining of a "jitter" problem, with the screen bouncing.

"Other versions of MacOS are vulnerable too", Wardle replied.

"macOS High Sierra is an important update that makes the Mac more capable and responsive while laying the foundation for future innovations." says Craig Federighi, Senior VP of Software Engineering. "High Sierra's SKEL's flawed implementation is a flawless example of this".
